Principal's Message

“By degrees with the assistance of The Almighty we might do a great deal.”

– Nano Nagle -

Dear Teachers, Parents, Students and Esteemed Well-Wishers,

It is both an honour and a joy for me to be part of this vibrant educational community, where learning is not just a priority but a shared commitment and passion.
Education, as Nelson Mandela profoundly stated, “is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This truth continues to guide our mission — to nurture not only bright minds but compassionate hearts, as we strive to build a community of learners who are curious, resilient, and ready to contribute meaningfully to the world.
This dream can be achieved only through a collaborative approach and excellent team work. May our joint efforts to achieve the dream we have for each child, be inspired and fueled by the beautiful sentiments of Henry Ford who said, “Coming together is the beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” Persistent commitment to this journey is key to the success we aspire to achieve.

To our dedicated Teachers:

Your dedication, creativity, and patience is the bedrock of our institution. You do more than teach — you ignite curiosity, inspire growth, and shape the future. Let us continue to work together in fostering a classroom culture that promotes innovation, creativity, inclusivity and joy in learning. I also urge you to care for your own well-being, as only a nourished spirit can nourish others.

To our supportive Parents and Guardians:

Your involvement in your child’s education is invaluable. We deeply appreciate the trust you place in us. As partners on this journey, your encouragement at home, your presence at school events, and your ongoing interaction with us, makes a world of difference. In this rapidly changing world, let us stay united in our shared endeavour to help our children navigate challenges with confidence and integrity.

To our dear students:

You are the heartbeat of our school. Each of you carries unique talents and an unfathomable power to blossom and awaken to your highest potential. So, I urge you to dream fearlessly, strive with sincerity, and remember that success is not just measured by marks, but by the kindness you show, the efforts you make, and the values you uphold. Know that your teachers, your parents, and the entire school community believes in you.

To our Well-wishers and Community Members:

Your prayers, encouragement, and constant support strengthens our resolve to offer holistic and value-based education. Thank you for journeying with us as we continue to strive for excellence. As we move forward, let us be mindful of the world around us — a world facing rapid change, digital transformation, and increasing social challenges and environmental degradation. Let our school be a beacon of hope, where knowledge meets empathy, and success is measured not only by our achievements but by the lives we touch. With unity, vision, and shared purpose, I am confident we will continue to grow as a community rooted in values and driven by excellence.

Together, let us shape minds, touch hearts, and transform lives.

SKETCH OF THE MONTH

Our history

Presentation Convent Hr. Sec. School, Srinagar has a history of 84 glorious years in the field of education. We look back with a sense of gratitude and satisfaction at the enormous contribution this institution has made in the lives of all those who have passed through the portals of their Alma Mater. We now invite you to take a journey down the memory lane as we retrace our steps, to the journey which began in Ireland.

1936

Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School is a selective K-12 independent day school for girls in Rajbagh, on the banks of Jhelum River, Srinagar. It was started in 1936 and run by the Presentation Sisters.

1939

On 15 June 1939 the school building was officially inaugurated at Rajbagh.

1965

The school was devastated by a fire on 12 January 1965 that completely destroyed the school building and part of the sisters’ residence. The clock tower survived. The school was rebuilt.

1977

In its initial days the school was boarding and had a separate building for a boys' school. The school was co-educational until 1977.

2009

The Nagle Block was inaugurated in 2009 and was put open for classes 11th & 12th in 2010.

2011

Jubilee Block was started in 2011 to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of the school.
